Living only a mile from the thousand-foot cliffs at the west end of the Superstition Mountains we get to see this dramatic sight in all seasons, all kinds of weather and all kinds of light.
The Superstitions are best known for the Lost Dutchman Gold Mine, a mine (or a myth) found (or not) by one Jacob Waltz in the nineteenth century. Many have tried to relocate the mine, but in more than a hundred years nobody has succeeded. People are still searching, and almost every year people get lost and die in the Superstition Wilderness.
Most of these shots were taken from our yard or from a short walk away.
